PR Newswire

LAMU, Kenya, Feb. 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Kenya mural project was completed in December 2024. In response to the California wildfires, Los Angeles muralist Nichole Blackburn has chosen to release this announcement now, ensuring wildfire coverage continues to receive attention.

Art is for Everyone! In December 2024, a vibrant mural transformed the walls of Anidan Children's Home, bringing color, creativity, and joy to the children. Completed over eight days, this heartwarming project—unveiled in time for Christmas—was a gift to Anidan, which houses over 150 children and provides education, healthcare, and support to more than 280.

Designed by celebrated artist, Nichole Blackburn, in collaboration with Anidan's Art Director, Corrie Wingate, the mural was donated on behalf of Big Sky Countries Nonprofit, an organization bringing art to children's facilities worldwide since 2006. From schools and special needs centers to hospitals, libraries, and youth homes, Big Sky Countries has transformed spaces with creativity and love, ensuring that children have access to artistic expression.

What makes this mural special is the hands that brought it to life. The children and youth at Anidan Children's Home actively participated in the mural's design and painting process, leaving their mark on a piece of art that will brighten their home for many years.

Painted on Anidan's main courtyard wall, the mural reflects Lamu's beauty and culture. It features a mango tree, an ocean scene, baobab trees, butterflies, and local flowers, symbolizing growth, resilience, and community.

The project culminated in a stunning final reveal party, inspiring all who witnessed it. Follow the journey and see video of the mural project at @bigskycountriesnonprofit on Instagram.
